As the global movement toward sustainable fashion continues to gain momentum, lightweight, cool-touch, and biodegradable knitted fabrics have become a major development trend for spring/summer apparel and casual knitwear. Drawing on years of experience in paper yarn R&D and knitting application development, we focus on the specialized optimization of fine-count paper yarns, with circular knitting as a key application area. By addressing the technical challenges associated with knitting fine-count paper yarns, we provide knitting mills and apparel brands worldwide with eco-friendly paper yarns that offer stable performance, excellent knittability, and distinctive aesthetics.
Traditional paper yarns are generally produced in coarser counts and are mainly used for heavy-gauge sweaters. Fine-count paper yarns made with conventional processes often suffer from uneven yarn consistency, unstable tension, frequent yarn breakage during high-speed circular knitting, and excessive fabric defects. These issues significantly limit their use in fine weft-knitted products such as underwear, T-shirts, knitted base layers, seamless garments, and cooling socks.
To address these industry challenges, we utilize our patented biomimetic yarn-forming technology and continuously optimize the entire manufacturing process, including precision paper slitting, controlled twisting, plying, and setting. This enables stable mass production of a full range of ultra-fine paper yarns from 1/32 Nm to 1/50 Nm, including pure hemp-paper yarn and various Papertex blends such as paper/polyester, paper/cotton, and paper/TENCEL™.
After extensive circular knitting trials and large-scale production verification, our fine-count paper yarns have demonstrated excellent compatibility with a wide range of single-jersey, double-knit, and seamless circular knitting machines operating at high production speeds.
1. Smooth knitting performance with significantly reduced yarn breakage
The yarn’s flexibility and twist configuration are specifically optimized for weft knitting. Consistent yarn tension allows continuous production at standard circular knitting speeds, reducing yarn breakage and frequent machine stoppages while improving overall fabric production efficiency.
2. Fine, smooth fabric surface with a premium texture
Knitted fabrics made from fine-count paper yarn feature a dense, smooth surface with minimal fuzz and excellent resistance to pilling. The natural dry-touch texture and soft matte appearance of paper yarn create a distinctive aesthetic that sets it apart from conventional synthetic and cotton fabrics.
3. Outstanding functional comfort
The natural wood-pulp-based material gives the fabric an instant cooling sensation, excellent breathability, and effective moisture management. It feels dry and non-clingy even during perspiration, while also offering mild antibacterial and deodorizing properties. Its lightweight construction makes it an ideal functional material for spring and summer knitwear.
4. Traceable sustainability for low-carbon brand strategies
The raw material is sourced from FSC-certified renewable wood pulp. Finished products can naturally biodegrade after disposal, and relevant environmental certification documentation can be provided. This helps domestic and international fashion brands strengthen their sustainable and low-carbon supply chains.
Our fine-count paper yarns developed specifically for circular knitting are now widely used in spring/summer cooling knitted T-shirts, seamless underwear and camisoles, knitted dresses, casual cardigans, performance cooling socks, and knitted home-textile products.
According to customers’ requirements for fabric weight, texture, and knitting machine specifications, we can customize yarn count, fiber composition, blend ratio, and color. We also provide free sampling and technical guidance for knitting trials, delivering a comprehensive one-stop service from yarn selection to production.
Looking ahead, we will continue to advance our fine-count paper yarn technology, explore broader applications in circular knitting, and further improve yarn stability and cost efficiency. Together with partners across the knitting value chain, we aim to expand the market for sustainable and biodegradable knitted materials and help build a greener future for the textile industry.
